At Newcastle Academy we have high expectations regarding behaviour and we have an inclusive approach of supporting students to achieve this. The behaviour system is consistently followed by staff in the classroom. The graduated response helps to identify students who may need additional support to ensure they achieve positive outcomes.
The Graduated Response
At Newcastle Academy we use a graduated response which runs in line with our behaviour system. If a C3 is received, the student will then go to the quiet room. This would be stage 1 on the graduated response. Each time during a half term that this occurs it results in them moving up a stage. There are interventions at each stage to support students and to try and minimise them receiving C3s in lessons. These interventions are completed to support students to ensure that they have the best chance of success with their learning.
