Newcastle Academy achieve a 10% rise in Maths and English, as elated Year 11 students collect their GCSE results.
Year 11 students of Newcastle Academy flooded in to collect their long-awaited GCSE results. The school has achieved notable progress in core subjects, English and Maths, and were thrilled to see a 10% improvement in students attaining higher GCSE grades in these subjects.
One individual’s success story is that of student Kelvin Huang, who achieved outstanding results, attaining an A* in Biology, an A in Computer Science and an 8 in English – to name but a few on a long list of his excellent grades.
Speaking of his success, Kelvin was extremely pleased with his results and said that he is now looking forward to studying Physics, Maths, Further Maths and Computer Science at St Joseph’s College. When asked what he hoped to be doing in the future, he said ‘I’m not really sure yet, it could be anything. But as long as it’s something I enjoy then I’ll be happy.’ We couldn’t have put it better Kelvin!
Principal of Newcastle Academy, Tim Rogers, said, “I am delighted that the pass rate for English and Maths has risen by almost 10% this year, and it was lovely to see so many students delighted with their results, as they left to continue their education with local colleges and apprenticeship providers.”
From all of the staff here at Newcastle Academy, we would like to say how proud we are of all of this year’s students. Your results are a testament to your commitment, enthusiasm and hard work. We wish all of the pupils every future happiness and success.
