Quality First Communication

Here at Newcastle Academy, we fully understand that our learners not only need an ambitious and well-planned curriculum, but that they also need the knowledge and skills for their future education and employment. At the heart of this is our ‘Quality First Communication’ ethos. This is applied across all subjects and aims to develop our learners into: fluent readers, confident and effective listeners and purposeful and accurate writers.

In addition, we subscribe to the innovative learning curriculum known as Bedrock Learning – All students from Years 7-10 are enrolled in the Bedrock Learning program. This uses games and activities via a series of lessons, to explicitly teach vocabulary, make students more ‘word aware’ and have the tools they need to be successful in a world where language really matters!
